To register the light, this is the first and latent sense suggested by photography. Such concept seems to supersede any other definition that attempts to attribute to the workmanship of someone roaming the world in a quest of finding chance moments in life. What we denominate as unobserved finds strange abode in the whirlwind of our frenetic days. It is at this moment that the precise eye of the photographer is our guide towards a journey inevitably reinvented at each moment.
Perspectives such as these are part of the senses provoked by the work of Antonio Paim, an artist who proposes the challenge of retaining from the beings and their places the substance of their ordinance. People photographed by him are characters of their own fate and are connected to the strength of a serene pact of perception. In many of his images, Antonio brings forward an anthropological view, one which respects the other, and the other’s epiphanies, gestures and rites. His lenses convey memories, popular manifests, concrete spaces inhabited by everyday poetry. Behind the documental characteristics of his registers, men incense their prayers for the continuity of the colors of the days. Through the eyes of the photographer, existence never congeals.

Registrar a luz, eis o primeiro e latente significado sugerido pela fotografia. Tal conceito parece suplantar qualquer outra definição que se tente atribuir ao ofício de um alguém a percorrer um mundo em busca de flagrantes de vida. Aquilo ao qual chamamos de despercebido encontra estranho abrigo no turbilhão de nossos frenéticos dias. É então que o olhar preciso do fotógrafo nos serve de guia rumo a uma jornada reinventada inevitavelmente a cada instante.
Perspectivas como estas fazem parte dos sentidos provocados pelo trabalho de Antonio Paim, artista que se propõe ao desafio de reter dos seres e seus lugares a substância de suas ordenações. As pessoas por ele retratadas são personagens de suas próprias sinas e estão ligadas à força de um sereno pacto de escutas. Em muitas de suas imagens, Antonio traz à tona o olhar antropológico, aquele que respeita o outro, suas epifanias, gestos e ritos. Suas lentes nos falam de memória, das manifestações populares, de espaços concretos habitados pela poesia cotidiana. Por trás do caráter documental de seus registros, os homens incensam suas preces pelo continuar das cores dos dias. Pelo olhar do fotógrafo, uma existência jamais se coagula.
